Rich Reynics, PTA President

Rich and his wife Mary grew up in neighboring Clifton, moved to Montclair from NYC in 2018, and have 3 children at Edgemont this year (4th, 2nd and K). In real life, Rich works in the fintech space, and enjoys playing whiffleball with the kids, cooking, and listening to all kinds of music. His favorite place (besides Edgemont) is the beach.

Cassandre Cheung, Vice President

Cassandre grew up in suburbs all over the United States: Chicago, Illinois; Orlando, Florida; Seattle, Washington; Atlanta, Georgia; Washington D.C., before coming up to NYC for undergrad at NYU and Parsons and then moving to Montclair in 2017. Mom to 2nd grader Bergen and wife to Tom, Cassandre works full time designing Girls Knits at the Gap and is passionate about yoga, gardening, and self-educating about Neurodiversity and Neuro-affirming practices. I’m excited to continue giving back to this cool little community this year, and have felt so lucky to be part of a PTA with such good vibes. These folks are earnest, collaborative, thoughtful and dedicated to putting together quality programming that is meaningful and equitable for our kids – making Edgemont a great place, with no shortage of laughs in the process! I hope you’ll join us for any or all PTA led events this school year!

Katie Place, Vice President of Membership & By-Laws

Katie grew up in West Milford, NJ, went to Ramapo College, moved to Hoboken for a short time and then moved to Montclair 18 years ago to live with her husband Bryan (because he had the nicer apartment). She has two boys at Edgemont, Jack (5th grade) and Finn (2nd grade) and has enjoyed being involved in the PTA since Jack was doing online kindergarten 6 years ago. Katie enjoys seeing live music (and dancing with my eyes closed so I can pretend no one sees me), being in charge (bonus if I have a walkie talkie), yoga (to calm myself down from thinking I’m the boss), and going to bed at a reasonable hour. I have made some of my best friends at Edgemont while we trauma bonded doing online kindergarten together, and I feel so lucky. Say hi so we can also be friends too (without the trauma).

Margot LaScala, Co-Vice President of Fundraising

Margot LaScala is serving her second term as the Co-VP of Fundraising for the Edgemont PTA. She grew up in New Jersey and went to McGill University for undergraduate and later to Parsons for a professional degree in interior design. She and her family moved to Montclair in 2020 and were delighted when daughter Ava, now 9 and 4th grade, was able to attend the charming old schoolhouse behind a beautiful park – Edgemont. It has been a magical time ever since. They are now joined by Theo, 3, who loves to visit Ava at school and scooter around Edgemont Park. Not pictured: Zelda, the beloved family dog.

Molly Delp, Co- Vice President of Fundraising

Molly is a Montclair native who attended K-12 in Montclair Public Schools before heading off to study economics at the University of Virginia. Molly moonlights as a brand marketing and strategy executive in the Beauty, Food and Fashion industries and she teaches yoga for fun. She is thrilled to join the PTA this year as her 2 kids, grades K and 2, will both be at Edgemont!

Chad Trent, Communications Secretary

Chad grew up in Tennessee and North Carolina, moving to NYC for graduate school and meeting the love of his life. After many nights of convincing, he and his wife moved to Montclair in 2016 in anticipation of expanding their family. He works as a life sciences consultant across the great states of NJ and PA. Chad has a 1st grader at Edgemont, and is delighted to serve on the PTA board for the enrichment of our wonderful community.

Jen Walton, Recording Secretary

Jen grew up in Rochester, NY then lived in the Washington, D.C. area for many years. After a brief move to Austin, TX with her husband, Derrick, and son, Archer, they made the move to Montclair in 2019. Archer is currently a 4th grader and Jen has been involved with the PTA since his Kindergarten year. Jen works part-time as a Physical Therapist and in her spare time loves to spend time with her friends and family, travel and explore our cool town. She feels so lucky to be a part of this amazing community and is looking forward to making this school year the best one yet for our kids and families!

Brett Hirsch, Co-Treasurer

Brett and his wife, Courtney, moved to Montclair from San Francisco in 2021 and have three children: a 2nd grader and kindergartener at Edgemont, and a three-year-old daughter who can’t wait to join her brothers (Brett also can’t wait for the glorious one school drop off). He works as a lawyer at a live shopping startup. When he’s not e-biking his kids all over town, Brett is clinging to his fading athletic glory in the pool or on the softball field, or fueling up at Local Coffee.
